'Climate change is a threat, climate action is an opportunity’
Uit de keynote van Tomasz Chruszczow (Special Envoy for Climate Change, Ministry of the Environment, Poland): 'Transforming of global development pattern in a way, so we can achieve climate neutrality by the second half of this century remains the key long-term objective of the Paris Agreement. Climate change is a threat, climate action is an opportunity that must not be missed. Action on safe and resilient water supply as well as other adaptation related measures are laying the foundation to low greenhouse gases emission development policies and are alleviating climate risks, thus contributing to attracting private investments in developing countries. It is the ultimate goal of Katowice COP24 to adopt a complete package of implementation guidelines for the Paris Agreement, which would allow for expeditious operationalisation of all its mechanisms and institutions. Transparent communication of efforts, understanding of action as well as recognition of outcomes by public opinion will help governments and the stakeholders to cooperate and do more, faster and better.'
